An army jawan was killed and two others were injured when a Combat Battle Tank hit a building during testing inside a Defence Research and Development Organisation lab in the city.

Sepoy Harish and two other jawans Senthil Kumar and Prem Chand were testing the T90 tank on Friday morning inside DRDO's Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment campus near Avadi in Chennai when the incident occurred, CVRDE sources said.

Harish suffered severe head injuries after they lost control of the moving tank which then hit a small building near the testing area, they said.

Military Police are inquiring into the incident. The jawan's body has been kept at the Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore. Over 90 jawans are working from the user's side in CVRDE campus in Chennai.
