Rajya Sabha member of Parliament Amar Singh has "admitted" that he facilitated the purported conversation between Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and noted lawyer Shanti Bhushan, which is contained in the controversial CD, the Delhi police has told a court in New Delhi.

The police said that during the investigation, Amar Singh revealed that after dialing the number to Yadav, he handed over the receiver to Bhushan to speak with each other.

In the report placed before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav, the police said Amar Singh had told them that when the conversation took place on his landline phone, he had come out of the room after handing over the phone to Bhushan.

When the alleged conversation had taken place, Virendra Bhatia, who was the then Advocate General of Uttar Pradesh, was also present.

"He (Amar Singh) admitted that a few years back, Shanti Bhushan had visited his house from hotel Taj Man Singh while Bhatia was also present there. During discussion regarding some case of Mulayam Singh Yadav pending in the Allahabad high court, (may be case of defection against Mulayam Singh Yadav), Shanti Bhushan wanted to talk to the SP chief," the police said in its report.

"Then he (Amar Singh) connected him to Mulayam Singh Yadav and left the room after handing over the receiver of the phone to Shanti Bhushan. He could not listen to the conversation between them," the report added.
