Even as the police commence their investigation into the Delhi high court blast on Wednesday, they are relying on the footage that they may possibly get through a closed circuit television camera. Though in various other incidents, the police have failed to get vital leads from CCTVs, this would still be one of the heaviest relying points for the investigators.
Preliminary investigations show that the bomb was assembled by a professional and the impact has been huge. The crater that formed at the blast site shows that the bomb composition was heavy.
Another factor is that the bomb was planted early Wednesday morning when there was less security. The police say the bomber knew his way around, and has to have visited the site several times since he knew how to get around the security system.
"We are relying on the CCTCV footage, and are questioning some persons who were around the area since the morning," said an official.
Currently the police are trying to ascertain whether the blasts were triggered off by a timer device. Although the real picture is not clear as yet, they suspect that an improvised explosive device and ammonium nitrate was used in the blasts.
Ammonium nitrate is one of the easiest ingredients to procure, and it is available openly in the market with no regulation whatsoever. However, it is only once the forensics team gets on to the job will it ascertain the components of the bomb.
