The Central Bureau of Investigation is likely to file an additional chargesheet against YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy before the CBI court on Thursday.
The additional chargesheet is being filed barely three days after the first chargesheet was filed against him and 12 others on Saturday.
Sources say that the CBI may file additional chargesheets against Jagan and the rest of the accused in the illegal assets case. The additional chargesheets would deal more with the illegal assets case and speak more about the manner in which Jagan and his accomplices had gone about raising illicit wealth.
The first chargesheet gave a brief oversight of those alleged dealings and even took the name of ex-chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekara Reddy while stating that had he been alive he would have been tried under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
This news has once again raked up speculation regarding Jagan's arrest who is currently on an election campaign in west Godavari ahead of the by-polls in 18 assembly constituencies.
CBI's strategy is however unclear and it appears that it wants to build a foolproof case against the powerful YSR Congress leader who has been threatening to eat into the Congress vote share in Andhra Pradesh.
Any action against Jagan would largely depend on what the court would have to say. The CBI appears to be playing it safe and would not want to act unless it is aided with a proper court order.
