The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday said that the agency would need Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in its custody for interrogation in the illegal mining scam case.
Filing very strong objections to the anticipatory bail plea filed by Yeddyurappa in the special court, the CBI made it clear if the case has to be solved then it would need all the accused in its custody for questioning.
The bail plea was filed after the CBI took over the probe into the illegal mining scam following a Supreme Court directive.
A CBI source told rediff.com, "We need to complete the probe in three months as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court and we need to put out a perfect case. We cannot afford to have any road blocks."
"Yeddyurappa is the one person who can provide us with vital clues. He has been the chief minister; he would have a lot of information and documents with him; Only Yeddyurappa and the other accused can provide us with details. If these persons are granted anticipatory bail, it would be difficult for the investigation to progress smoothly and hamper the probe badly," the source added.
Yeddyurappa's anticipatory bail plea will be heard next on May 29.
