A special CBI judge from Andhra Pradesh, who had a couple of weeks granted bail to mining baron, Gali Janardhan Reddy, has been suspended by the chief justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court following allegations of corruption.

The CBI which is probing Janardhan Reddy's role in the mining scam had appealed against the verdict of the CBI court, which had granted him bail.

There were aspersions that were cast on CBI court judge Pattabhiram regarding the bail plea that was granted to Reddy.

The CBI had also conducted a raid also at his place and found Rs 3 crore which was unaccounted for.

It is also suspected that the judge may have been bribed in the Janardhan Reddy case.

Based on these complaints Chief Justice Madan Lokur decided to place him under suspension pending inquiry.

Janardhan Reddy, who was arrested by the CBI for his alleged role in the Obulapuram Mining Scam relating to Andhra Pradesh, had moved the court in Hyderabad seeking bail. He was granted bail by the Hyderabad CBI court.

However, he remained in jail as there was another case pending against him in Karnataka.
He had then moved the CBI court in Bengaluru for bail, but the same was rejected two days back. Meanwhile, the CBI appealed against the order of the Hyderabad court and obtained a stay against the order granting Reddy bail.
