Union Minister for Minority Affairs Salman Khursheed has underlined the need for all educational institutions to be sensitive towards the feelings of all communities and accommodate their customs.

Salman Khursheed was reacting to the action of a private college in Karnataka, barring a Muslim girl from wearing Burqa on the campus.

Khursheed said such issues should be resolved through dialogue and all educational institutions should be sensitive towards all the communities.

"We have to be sensitive and considerate to concerns and feelings of every community. This is nothing to do with only minority community. We have to careful about all communities. I think these matters should be settled through dialogue and not through accusations and mistrust," Khursheed said.

The action of Sri Venkataramana Swamy college in Karnataka has created a major controversy as the minority community was up in arms against the ban on burqa in the college.

A prominent cleric Moulana Waheeuddin Khan has added fuel to the fire by questioning the belief that burqa was part of Islam. However the minister refused to be drawn in to the debate of burqa.
