The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed an application seeking a stay on the Delhi high court verdict quashing all charges against the Hinduja brothers in the Bofors pay off case.

The court said a petition has already been admitted in this regard.

"The main petition challenging the verdict has been admitted," a bench comprising Justice H K Sema and Justice P K Balasubramaniyan said declining to entertain the application filed by advocate Ajay Agrawal.

The counsel had filed a PIL challenging the May 31, 2005 verdict of the high court after CBI had preferred not to appeal.

While admitting his PIL, the court had treated it as appeal against the high court verdict.

The high court had quashed all proceedings before the trial court against the Europe-based Hinduja brothers -- Srichand, Gopichand and Prakashchand.
