Kolkata: Passengers hurl bombs at each other in train, at least 17 injured

At least 17 people were injured after a low-intensity blast on the Sealdah-Krishnanagar local train in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The crude bombs exploded at 3:55am just before the Sealdah-Krishnanagar local entered Barrackpore station. The train which started from Sealdah was going to Krishnagar in Nadia district.

According to police, passengers travelling in the fifth bogey hurled bombs at each other after a scuffle. The injured have been admitted to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Police, fire brigade and railway rescue teams have rushed to the spot. Train services on the Sealdah-Barrackpore of the main suburban section have been suspended.

The police said the explosive may not have been planted in the train. The police also added that normal train services will resume soon on the section.
