Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh on Friday appeared to bat for Gujrat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the party's prime ministerial candidate and said it is now Congress' turn to make clear its choice of its candidate for the top post.

"Our choice of PM candidate is obvious and it is now the turn of Congress to make its choice clear", he said without naming Modi during a brief chat with mediapersons.

Accusing Congress of making baseless claims that 2002 Gujrat riots gave birth to Indian Mujahedeen, Rajnath Singh said "it’s  all a gimmick to blame our leader and when anyone asks me to comment on it, I usually say that Congress has the bio-data of Indian Mujahedeen and we don’t have it".

Singh, who inaugurated a three-day training camp of Himachal Pradesh BJP workers, expressed grave concern over “crisis of credibility” of politicians and said the reason for this was "failure" of political parties to deliver and implement the promises made to the people.

He charged the UPA government with misgovernance and adopting ruinous policies, pushing the country to brink of bankruptcy and asked the party workers to ensure the return of BJP to power after 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

"The country is passing through a grave crisis and due to weak and inept leadership of UPA, not only a big country like China is making intrusions into the country at will but even small countries are trying to bully us", he said.

Claiming that NDA led by BJP was the only choice before the people, Rajnath Singh said there were three major political forces namely, BJP, Congress and Communists and BJP was organisationally the strongest party which has never suffered a vertical split.

"We are not doing politics only for forming government and our politics is people and society-oriented and whether in power or not, our resolve to serve the people remains undiluted" he claimed.

Having a dig at the UPA government for its “dismal” performance, the BJP chief said “India has become current accounts deficit” under during nine year rule Congress led UPA government.

Expressing concern over the falling value of Rupee, he said it was ironical that the value of Rupee is going down but exports are not going up and instead coming down, which "exposed the faulty" economic policies of the government and established the fact that industrial growth is not picking up.

Singh said that as per UPA government’s own submission, fifty per cent of total roads constructed after independence were during NDA government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Similarly, the UPA government gave employment to 27 lakh people during nine years while the NDA government to 6.17 crore youth during its six years rule, he added.
