The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday had a word of advice for Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party's young face Rahul Gandhi: learn to speak extempore.

The main opposition party also objected to Congress linking the country's future with the Amethi member of Parlaiment, terming it as "undemocratic and dictatorial."

"The Congress had once raised the slogan 'India is Indira and Indira is India'. They are now taking the country back to the same period," BJP deputy leader in Lok Sabha V K Malhotra said.

He said the BJP was waiting to see Sonia and Rahul make an extempore speech rather than read out from a prepared text.

"Speaking extempore is one of the essential qualities of a good leader," he added.

Malhotra said Rahul, who was being projected as the future of India, had merely spoken for 3.45 minutes in Lok Sabha after he became an MP more than three-and-a-half years ago.

The BJP leader also accused the Congress of monopolising public broadcaster Doordarshan and asked it to ensure that the opposition was equally covered by the channel.

The party had earlier objected to Doordarshan showing live speeches of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul at the recent All India Congress Committee session.
