Bharatiya Janata Party's national secretary in-charge of Kerala, Muralidhar Rao, on Monday said that the national leaders of his party, including the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushama Swaraj, will be camping in the state for the electioneering of the BJP candidates.
He was addressing mediapersons at the BJP state headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram.
Rao said that BJP's list of candidates will be finalised by the party central election committee in New Delhi. The BJP leader said that in Kerala both the Left Front and the United Democratic Front has lost vision and direction to lead the state and added that the BJP is providing a fresh vigour to the politics of Kerala.
The BJP leader also said that the party will definitely open its account in the coming assembly elections in the state but refused to announce the number of seats which he thinks the party might win.
He also said that the BJP in Kerala is fighting the elections for winning and not for a token fight, and said that the party is contesting in all the 140 seats, and that any of these seats are winnable.
To another question of the BJP having a negative image of having sold its votes to other parties, Rao said, there is no question of any such thing. When the question was persisted, he said, "The past is past and the party is looking forward to the future and it is not having any under arm deals."
The BJP leader to another question on whether the party would go for an alliance with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu and for that matter in the Centre as that party has split its seven year old bonhomie with the United Progressive Alliance, Rao said, "Do you think we will go for such an alliance? No."
"We have been campaigning extensively against the corruption which has been happening in this country under the UPA and the DMK is a main party which is responsible for this scam .We have distanced ourselves from that party," Rao clarified.
