The Andhra Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded a judicial inquiry into the communal riots in Hyderabad, saying it will bring out the truth about a large-design behind it.
Alleging that four people died in the violence so far state BJP president G Kishan Reddy asked the government to come out to help victims' families. He demanded Rs 5 lakh compensation of to each bereaved family and an assistance of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh to the injured.
However, the police said that only two persons were killed in violence.
He was speaking to media after submitting a memorandum to Chief Minister K Rosaiah. The delegation included former union minister of state for home Vidyasagar Rao, former MLAs Baddam Bal Reddy, Prem Singh Rathore and Indrasen Reddy.
Charging the administration with partisan attitude, he also alleged that the police had given freedom to leaders of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen to go around and provoke the people.
While the police say two people died in the violence so far, Kishan Reddy claimed that the toll was four.
He demanded that the government should also give job to one eligible member of their family. He also demanded a compensation of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh for every injured person.
He found fault with the administration for not removing the buntings and flags put up by the people on the occasion of religious festivals soon after the festival was over. He said if the flags were removed immediately, the riots would have been averted.
"The present spurt of riots at once showcases the failure of the intelligence and counter intelligence departments at one level, and the failure of the entire administration at a larger level", the memorandum said.
