Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday hit back at Congress leader Digvijay Singh's remark made on his social networking profile some days back.
Responding to Singh's Twitter post -- which stated that Ramdev was BJP's plan A, Team Anna was plan B, and when both of which had 'crashed', Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was plan C -- BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said, "Digvijay Singh is no doubt the plan D of the Congress party, and D can be read here as duffer or dirty tricks."
The party alleged that Singh's statements spoke the mind of his party president, Sonia Gandhi.
The BJP further claimed that Singh's stance on many topics are a well thought out strategy of the Congress, where in public it tries to distance itself from his statements but at the same time quietly protects him.
"Digvijay Singh openly defended terrorists by visiting their families in Azamgarh (in Uttar Pradesh), he described the Batla House encounter as fake and his arguments that the accused in 2G Spectrum and CWG scams should be given bail, are all part of the Congress president's strategy," Javadekar said.
"The Congress cannot officially defend Digvijay Singh's statements and chooses to distance itself from whatever stand he takes. But this is just eyewash. Digvijay Singh speaks the Congress president's mind," he added.
The war of words between Singh and the BJP did not stop here.
Singh had earlier alleged that the BJP had used Team Anna's movement against corruption to deflect nation's attention from the Sangh Parivar's alleged role in patronising Hindu terror outfits.
The BJP returned the favour to the Congress leader on Monday by questioning his party's decision of not removing Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat despite being named in the recent Public Accounts Committee report, which accuses him of illegal mining in the state.
The BJP further questioned Congress's decision of not taking action against Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit even though she had been named in the Shunglu Committee report on the CWG scam.
