The Bhartiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh have taken strong exception to the statement made by Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shide at the Chintan Shivir in Jaipur.

Shinde said that the BJP and the RSS were running terror camps to spread Hindu terrorism. He later calrified saying that he had meant "saffron terrorism".

"The statement by the home minister in Jaipur will have serious repercussions. Sonia Gandhi, who heads the Congress, and Shinde must tender unqualified apology to people of India," BJP spokesperson Mukhtar told rediff.com.

He called the Congress a bunch of cowards. He alleged that the party was trying to give
a clean chit to terrorist groups operating from Pakistani soil, the real perpetrators of subversive activities in India and passing the blame on patriotic organisations like the RSS and BJP.

"They (Pakistan terrorists) carry out subversive activities and we give them a rose instead of punishing the criminals. It took several days before Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh issued a warning to Pakistan after their soldiers attacked our army jawans and severed their heads. It is the government, which is defaulter, the defamed government who needs to look within. Now, Shinde says that he did not say Hindu terrorism but was referring to saffron terrorism. It is a belated effort to control the damage," Naqvi added.
