Bharatiya Janata Party senior leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday claimed that the party had already finalised its candidate for the post of the President, but refused to share the name.
"BJP will disclose the name at the right time," Naqvi, who is in Bihar to attend a party meet in Siwan district, said.
"The BJP's choice of candidate for the post of the President is an able and non-political person, who is popular and acceptable," Naqvi said.
Naqvi said that the BJP was in favour of an all-party consensus for the top post, but that didn't seem to be possible any longer.
He reiterated the party stand that India is heading for mid-term Lok Sabha polls due to in-fighting in the Congress led-United Progressive Alliance government.
"The UPA government is divided into two power centres due to a war of supremacy between Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. This will pave the way for mid-term polls in the country," he said.
