Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will hold a 'gup-shup durbar' from mid-August on the lines of village 'durbar,' where people will be free to exchange their views and ideas on common issues.

No one would be allowed to raise personal problems as it is not a forum for redressal of the problems. Kumar said it will be like a village chaupal where people can discuss problems of villages, implementation of schemes, feelings of people and what should be done and what they want to be done.

Kumar said in Patna that the gup-shup durbar will be a free forum where everybody will have freedom to express their ideas.

The chief minister said the idea to hold such durbar emanated with the 'gup-shup' mentality of the people of the state and maintained that such free sittings would provide him inputs for development .

The cross-section of the society will be free to attend the sittings, he said and pooh-poohed the criticism of his proposed durbar saying that if some one considers it as an act of entertainment there is nothing wrong in it.

'Once there used to be 23-hour entertainment in this house (One Anne Marg, the official residence of the chief minister) and now I have devoted only one hour for it,' he added.
