After women, now grandchildren of freedom-fighters in Bihar will get two percent reservation in all government jobs.

The state government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has issued a formal notification in this regard.

There are nearly 20,000 freedom-fighters in Bihar, who are currently receiving pension under Swatantrata Senani Samman Pension (Freedom Fighter's Pension) scheme.

Last year, the state cabinet decided to provide reservations to the grandchildren of those freedom-fighters whose names figured in the list which was prepared by the central government.

Besides, the granddaughters of freedom-fighters will be granted Rs 51,000 as marriage assistance.

The Bihar government has already announced 35 percent reservation for women in all government jobs in the state.
