After absconding for over six months, Ranjan Yadav was arrested by the police on Saturday from Paranpur village, about 100 km from Gaya. "He was sent to jail after being produced in court. The police requested the court to conduct speedy trial," an official said.
Ranjan told the police during interrogation that he escaped to Combater in Tamil Nadu soon after the incident to evade arrest.
The 25-year-old Japanese tourist was allegedly raped near Bodh Gaya by five people, including an auto rickshaw driver, on April 16 last year when she was on her

According to police, three of the five accused had been arrested and awarded life imprisonment after speedy trial within a fortnight after the incident. However, one accused Pintu is still absconding in the case.
Shocked over the incident, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had then announced that a speedy trial would be conducted in the rape case.
