In an unusual incident, a junior police officer in Bihar’s Saran district sought the help of a Haridwar-based astrologer to solve a bank robbery case, the biggest-ever in the area, of Rs1.25 crore. He apparently approached the astrologer after his department ‘failed’ to make a breakthrough.

The current Bihar Director General of police Abhyanand was shocked when he was contacted by the junior officer for permission to take the documents related to the case to Haridwar to show to the astrologer.

“The incident came to light when the DGP raised objections and gave him a dressing down for his audacity,” an official told rediff.com.

According to officials, the junior officer was promised by the astrologer to help him to get some leads to crack the case and ensure recovery of the loot.

Now, the reprimanded junior police officer is investigating the case with the prescribed scientific approach.

According to officials investigating the case, the main accused in the robbery case, Pappu Sipahi ,who was arrested last week, is a hard nut to crack and it is giving sleepless nights to officers.
