Congress member of Legislative Assembly Malkhan Singh Bishnoi has cited illness as reason to skip questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the Bhanwari Devi disappearance case.

Sources in the agency said Bishnoi, who did not appear for questioning even today, has assured them of making himself available in next two-three days claiming that he was undergoing some treatment. He was summoned by the CBI on Saturday as well, but he did not appear citing his non-availability in Jodhpur as the reason. His son had informed the CBI in person that he was in New Delhi, after which the agency issued second summons to him on Sunday asking him to appear before it on Monday.

"We have already taken his skipping as an avoidance of the summons and if this happens again, we will take the legal course to summon him," CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra had earlier said. Bishnoi has been interrogated four times so far and was summoned after a long pause.

His sister, Indra Bishnoi, who is one of the main suspects in the case and has been interrogated a number of times, is also absconding apparently to evade CBI summons. His brother Parasram Bishnoi has already been arrested by the CBI in connection with the case along with sacked Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna, Bhanwari's husband Amar Chand and three others.
