The Maharashtra government would soon notify the appointment of two public prosecutors to take up the female foeticide cases of Beed district, Health Minister Suresh Shetty said on Monday.

Following the recent spate of foeticide cases, the government had already informed that it will nominate two lawyers and foot the legal expenses, he said.

"We will nominate the prosecutors in two days, the minister told reporters. Shetty further said that his department was in constant touch with the Home department after the arrest of Dr Sudam Munde and his wife Dr Saraswati in Parli tehsil on Sunday night.

The doctor couple is accused of illegally conducting abortion on a 30-year-old woman at their hospital, which resulted in her death, and are booked under Section 304 of IPC for culpable homicide, besides in a Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques case.

The doctor duo surrendered before Parli local police after evading arrest for over three weeks.
