The Bangladesh police has handed over top Lashkar operative of South India and self-styled commander of the terror outfit Thadiyantavida Naseer and his brother-in-law Shahbas to India, said sources in intelligence agencies.
The two are being interrogated by top sleuths of the central intelligence agencies in Delhi, said sources.
Naseer, who is considered to be involved in all the bomb blasts in the country in the last couple of years, was planning an attack on the US consulate and the Indian embassy in Bangladesh along with 15 other Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorists when he was apprehended by the Bangladesh police.
The duo was arrested on November 6 in the Indo- Bangladesh border while they were trying to cross over to India after the Bangladesh government started flushing out terrorists from the country's soil following several complaints from the Indian government.
Sources said the two were arrested on the basis of a tip-off based on the revelations made by David Headley and Rana to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
However, the union home ministry has not confirmed the arrest and extradition of the terrorists from Bangladesh.
Sources in the Intelligence Bureau told rediff.com that the union home ministry would announce the arrest formally in a few days.
The delay in announcement may be because of the impending meet of home secretaries of the two countries on Monday.
