Justice B Chandra Kumar passing the orders on the CBI's petition seeking Jagan's custody for questioning him on disproportionate assets also remanded Jagan's financial advisor Vijay Sai Reddy.
Vijay Sai Reddy, the vice chairman of Jagati Publications is the accused No 2 in the case. During the custody, the CBI will be able to question him every day from 10 am to 5 pm.
Jagan who was arrested on May 27 by the CBI was remanded to judicial custody by special CBI court till June 11 and was lodged in Chanchalguda Central jail. A day after the arrest, the CBI had moved court seeking
his custody.
While CBI had approached the high court seeking the custody of Jagan and Vijay Sai Reddy about the sources of investments in Jagan's companies, the YSR Congress chief had filed a quash petition seeking his release on the ground that his arrest was illegal. The high court however refused to entertain this plea and dismissed his petition.
The judge, who heard the arguments of the counsels of both the sides till Friday, passed his order in a packed courtroom on Saturday afternoon. Jagan's wife Bharati was among those keenly waiting for the court orders hoping that it will go in favor of her husband.
Seeking Jagan's petition the CBI counsel and additional solicitor general Ashok Bhan had said that only Jagan had the information about the investments in his overseas companies in Maritius ad Luxemburg among other places.
