A six-year-old girl was killed allegedly by her father inside a train at Silanibari station in Assam's Lakhimpur district on Friday, a Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) spokesperson said.
Security personnel have arrested the accused, he said.
The spokesperson said the incident took place inside a general coach of the 15813 Dekargaon- Murkongselek Express around 9.15 am.
"Railway Police Force and Government Railway Police personnel immediately reached the spot. The accused has been arrested," he said.
"After recording statements of eyewitnesses and taking custody of the body by police authorities, the train departed from Silonibari at 10.58 am," the spokesperson added.
The motive behind the murder was not immediately known.
