One person was killed and six others were injured when suspected terrorists belonging to the anti-talks faction of United Liberation Front of Assam triggered a powerful bomb explosion in the heart of Sivasagar town in Upper Assam on Monday.

Police informed that the improvised explosive device was planted in a bi-cycle in front of Lakhi Cinema in the town. The explosion occurred at around 9
pm. The deceased was identified as one Lulu Das. All the six injured were rushed to hospital.

Police suspected that the ULFA used hired hands to plant the bomb in the heart of the town. The explosion occurred notwithstanding strict vigil maintained by the police and security forces in and around the town round the clock.
