The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday stuck to its demand for a joint parliamentary committee probe into the 2G spectrum allocation, saying the arrest of former Union Telecom Minister A Raja was not enough and his "godfathers" should be exposed.
BJP general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan said the action initiated against Raja was too little and too late and the party wanted the government to initiate concrete action to unearth Raja's godfathers involved in the scam.
"Why Congress is so fearful about JPC?" he said. Pradhan, who was in Jamshedpur after campaigning for Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Sunday for Kharswan assembly by-poll staled for February 10, said the Opposition rallied around BJP, which has effectively raked up issues such 2G, CWG scam, price rise, black money in and outside the floor of the house.
Asked if Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa's alleged involvement in land scams had an adverse impact on the image of the party, Pradhan, who is also the in-charge of party affairs in the southern state, said it was not at all an issue as people were very much aware that the Opposition were indulging in "misinformation campaign" against Yeddyurappa.
The Karnataka government has already set up a commission to probe the allegation made by the opposition party as well as the denotification of land done by the state governments during last 15 years, he said.
