In an indication of the continuing tussle over the issue of leadership in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister K Rosaiah further delayed his entry in to the CM's office used by his predecessor Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Rosaiah, who has been working from his old chamber in D Block of the secretariat for more than three weeks, after he was sworn in as the CM following the tragic death of YSR, was supposed to enter the CM's office in C Block coinciding with the auspicious day of Dussehra on Monday. Accordingly the officials had made all the arrangements including the decoration of the entrance with flowers and renovation of CM's office on the 6th floor.
Security was tightened in and around the block and even the priests from the Tirumala Tirupati Devsthanam had reached the place to conduct the customary rituals.
However, continuing his cautious approach, ensuring not to upset the supporters of YSR's son Jaganmohan Reddy, Rosaiah postponed the program for some other future date. Instead of coming to the secretariat, Rosaiah went to Vasavi temple near his home for Dussehra pooja and later went to meet the governor.
Rosaiah told mediapersons that he will move to the CM's office only after informing every body. "It does not matter where I am sitting. Irrespective of the place I am working and I have cleared hundreds of files," he said.
Though the Congress high command has sent clear signals to Rosaiah to move to the CM's office to make it clear that he was no stop-gap leader but was here to stay, Rosaiah wants to move slowly and cautiously. With Jaganmohan Reddy camp aggressive campaigning to install him as the CM, Rosaiah is working under tremendous pressure.
But the opposition parties are trying to make Rosaiah's cautious approach a political issue by describing him as a "weak and fearful Chief Minister."
Senior Telugu Desam Party leader Galli Muddukrishnamma Naidu has urged Rosaiah to be brave and act like a CM.
