This is the second incident of a student committing suicide in less than 50 hours. B Nayak, a MBA student from Warrangal, committed suicide near the collector's residence on Sunday.
Instances of suicides in Telangana region had come down drastically in the last couple of months.
According to pro-Telangana activists, these suicides prove that the fervour for the creation of a new state has not yet abated.
The suicides come in the wake of two statements made by Congress leaders after the recently held by-polls.
Some activists say that people are particularly irked by the statement made by Congress leader Renuka Chaudhary, who had stated that a solution to the Telangana imbroglio will take time as it was not instant coffee.
But activists are more upset by the statement made by Ramanna Reddy, a Congress Member of Legislative Assembly. Reddy had stated that going by the results of the by-polls in Telangana region, it is clear that the vote percentage of the pro-Telangana parties had gone down considerably even through they won the elections.
He also said that by the time the next elections are held, the vote share for pro-Telangana parties would reduce further, and the Congress will return to power. Reddy had claimed that this indicated that the support for Telangana was dying.
These statements have not gone down well with pro-Telangana supporters, who claim that the sentiment for the movement is intact. The activists are likely to intensify their protests to prove the Congress leaders wrong.
