Government and Team Anna had a late night meeting on the eve of a debate in the Lok Sabha on the Lokpal issue which may lead to Anna Hazare calling off his 11-day hunger strike.
The meeting on Friday night at Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid's residence was also attended by Sandeep Dikshit.
Team Anna was represented by Medha Patkar and Prashant Bhushan. Indore-based spiritual leader Baiyuji Maharaj, who had earlier played the role of an intermediary in the tense standoff between the two sides, was also present.
Significantly, key Team Anna members Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi who had played a leading role in the earlier negotiations with the government were not present at the parleys.
Emerging out of the meeting, Patkar hoped there will be unity and consensus in Parliament on the three key demands raised by Hazare, whose fast enters the 12th day on Saturday.
"We hope there is a consensus on the three key issues. We want unity in Parliament whether the debate takes place under Rule 184(that entails voting) or Rule 193," she said.
Patkar said the main thrust of the discussions with Khurshid and Dikshit related to the Parliamentary procedures during the debate.
She said both the sides had sought the meeting. Hazare is demanding that the Parliament pass a resolution, accepting three of his key demands -- setting up Lokayuktas in sttes, covering entire bureaucracy and citizens charter.
