Less than a week after five soldiers were killed in an ambush at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmi, Pakistan on Monday violated the bilateral ceasefire in the Poonch sector along the Line of Control, according to a defence spokesperson.

”Pakistan troops opened fire at our troops using small arms, RPG and mortars. The firing which started late last night is still on,” he said.

No casualties or damage has been reported from the Indian side. On Sunday, Pakitsan had attacked five posts in Mendhar and some in the Kanachak sector leaving a Border Security Force personnel critically wounded.

The two sides exchanged fire for around seven hours on Sunday. Five violations by Pakistan have now taken place in the last 48 hours.
