Amarnath pilgrimage: Five more die, toll mounts to 47

Five more devotees died en route the Amarnath shrine pushing the toll since the commencement of the annual yatra to 47 even as the number of pilgrims paying obeisance at the cave temple crossed the 3-lakh mark on Sunday.
      
A resident of Delhi, Pawan Kumar, aged 32 years, died due to cardiac arrest at Brarimarg on Baltal route, officials said.
    
Forty-year-old Rukmini, hailing from Maharashtra, died following a heart attack at Panjtarni on Pahalgam route, they said.
 
Narayan Appaji, 42, a resident of Mumbai, died outside the cave shrine following cardiac arrest, the officials said adding 60-year-old

Dileep Singh of Gujarat breathed his last at Brarimarg.
  
A man died on Pahalgam route and efforts were on to ascertain his identity, they said.
     
With these deaths, the toll since the commencement of the annual Amarnath pilgrimage mounted to 47.
     
The number of pilgrims paying obeisance at 3,880-mt high cave shrine in south Kashmir, housing the naturally-formed ice Shivlingam, crossed the 3-lakh mark today, the officials said.
    
The annual pilgrimage commenced on June 25 from twin tracks of Baltal and Pahalgam.
