Actress Veena Malik, a Pakistani national and former Bigg Boss participant was detained at the Mumbai airport by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the customs on Wednesday for evasion of customs duty.

Malik, who was intercepted by the AIU, was found to be carrying undeclared dutiable goods valued at Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000. She was, however, let off after paying a fine of Rs 10,000.

Malik is the second Pakistani artist to be detained and penalized; the first being singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Khan was detained by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for carrying unaccounted foreign currency while leaving Mumbai.

Ironically, in an interview, Malik, commenting on Khan's detainment, had reportedly said that the singer ought to have been more careful. Other personalities from the entertainment world who have been booked by the Customs are Minissha Lamba and Anuskha Sharma.
