"I am being driven to end my life because there is none to listen to the gross injustice being meted out to my wife Uma, a teacher in a government school in Farrukhabad , who has been suspended simply because we could not pay bribes to the people in the education department", Yadav wrote in his suicide note that he has left behind.
He has alleged "complete apathy" on the part of Farrukhabad MLA Anant Kumar Misra, who was also the state health minister, whom he had approached for help along with his wife. "I approached the local Farrukhabad MLA to help revoke my wife's baseless suspension, but he too refused to help; so
I am left with no option but to end my life," he added.
Meanwhile, his family members and friends staged a demonstration on the streets of Kanpur, seeking action against Misra.
However, feigning ignorance about the incident, Misra claimed, "I do not remember anyone coming to me with any such plea."
He said, "I neither knew this advocate or his wife nor did they ever come to me for any help." According to him, "On inquiry now, I am told that the teacher was suspended because of dereliction of duty as she been absenting herself from school quite frequently."
He was however sympathetic towards Yadav, who, he felt , "was a case of some kind of psychological disorder."
