Assam: 6 killed as NDFB ultras raid village

A group of armed militants from the proscribed National Democratic Front of Bodoland went on a rampage at Bhimajuli in Sonitopur district of North Assam kiling at least six persons and injuring many others on Sunday evening, initial reports said.

Official confirmed four deaths so far and informed that four persons were critically injured in the incident. The death toll is likely to go up. Tension
gripped the area following the raid by the NDFB ultras with angry villagers coming out on the road armed with sharp weapons.

Police rushed to the village on hearing the news of the killings. Sources said an group of about 20 NDFB militants carried out the attack on villagers who were caught off guard. The vilagers had earlier resisted an extortion drive by the NDFB militants in the area.
