Row over bending rules to benefit CM's wifeThe Andhra Pradesh assembly today witnessed noisy scenes over the government granting floor space index relaxation to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's wife N Bhubhaneswari for her Punjagutta home in the city. The Congress stalled the proceedings for about 40 minutes. Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Congress leader P Janaradhan Reddy read out the June 17 government order in this regard. He wondered whether there was a separate law and rules for the chief minister's relatives and wife. He highlighted the ordeal of the people because of the state government's demolition drive. He alleged that the government had even sent a special memo to the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad commissioner to expedite the clearance of Bhubhaneswari's application. The government order, he said, had not only permitted her to construct second and third storeys, but also relaxed FSI and scaled down the stipulation of 40-ft front area to 22 ft from the road. |
