Pak supreme court restrains president from signing bill

Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah issued the order on a petition which challenged the contempt of court bill pushed through the national assembly by Sharief this week.

The bill, which introduced the right of appeal before a fresh panel of judges, was widely seen as an attempt by the prime minister to save himself from contempt of court charges and a possible jail term.
