Centre allays fears over Nizam's jewellery

The central government has allayed fears that the capital's National Museum was not safe to keep the Nizam of Hyderabad's jewellery and said it would transfer the valuables from the Reserve Bank of India's custody for public display there.

In an affidavit filed before the Delhi high court, Anjali Sen, director, department of culture, said the government has decided to keep the jewellery at the National Museum.

The affidavit has been filed following a public interest petition filed by an employee of the National Museum.

A division bench consisting of Chief Justice Ajay Prakash Misra and Justice Dalveer Bhandari, before whom the affidavit was filed, deferred the matter to December 2 for further directions.
