CM's nephews attacked in jailDelhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh's nephews Pawan and Neeraj, charged with alleged murder of a builder, were injured, the former seriously, when they were attacked inside the Tis Hazari court lock-up by three undertrials here today. The two were to be produced before the sessions judge in connection with the murder case. Senior Additional Commissioner of Police (Training and Vigilance) R K Niyogi said Pawan and Neeraj were attacked by Virender Mann, an undertrial, and his two accomplices. Personal enmity is believed to be the reason for the attack, he added. Niyogi said the three assailants attacked the chief minister's nephews with a pen, which Mann was allowed to carry by a judge for his personal use, inflicting serious injuries to Pawan, while Neeraj received minor injuries. Pawan was admitted to the Bara Hindu Rao hospital, where his condition is stated to be out of danger. Police have registered a case under section 324 of the Indian Penal Code for causing grievous injuries against the three attackers, Niyogi said. Pawan and Neeraj were remanded to judicial custody in the Tihar jail after being arrested by the Delhi police for allegedly killing a contractor in the Mundka village of outer Delhi. |
