CBI asked to explain slow progress on fodder scam probe

A Patna high court monitoring the progress of the multi-million fodder scam in Bihar today issued a show-cause notice to Central Bureau of Investigation Director R C Sharma asking him to explain why action should not be taken against him for going slow on the investigations.

The bench comprising Justice S N Jha and Justice S J Mukhopadhyay directed the CBI chief to submit an explanation within four weeks. The matter will be heard again on January 23.

The judges expressed dissatisfaction over the progress report filed by the CBI and asked it to submit a report giving detailed information on the affidavit latest by January 19.

They also pulled up the income tax department for being slow in finding where the hidden amount in the fodder scam had disappeared.
