Himanta Biswa Sarma tenders resignation to governor

Following the formal notification of the results of Assam Elections 2026 and to enable the formation of the new government, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tendered his resignation as Chief Minister along with that of the Council of Ministers to Hon'ble Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya today at Lok Bhavan.

The Governor has accepted his resignation and requested CM to continue as the caretaker Chief Minister till the new Govt assumes office.
