Len Deighton, the prolific author whose gritty and stylish spy thrillers dominated bestseller lists for decades, has died at the age of 97. His literary agent, Tim Bates, confirmed that he passed away on Sunday, though no cause of death was disclosed.
In a statement on Tuesday, Bates described Deighton as "not only one of the greatest spy and thriller writers of the 20th century, but also one of the finest writers in any genre.'
