Amid deepening schisms within the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana over poll ticket distribution, party leader Karan Dev Kamboj on Wednesday indicated that the rebellion could have been prevented if Chief Minister Nayab Saini had a 'say' on the allocation process.

Meanwhile, senior party leader from south Haryana, Ram Bilas Sharma filed his nomination papers from Mahendragarh, hours before the BJP denied him ticket.

Sharma, a former minister, filed his papers during the day even as the party had at that time not yet declared the name of its candidate for the seat.

Before Sharma filed his papers, Union minister and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh came out in his support and said the man who had given his all for the party deserved a ticket. BJP's Bhiwani-Mahendragarh MP, Dharambir Singh, was also present with Rao when he addressed a gathering in Mahendragarh in which Sharma was also present.

On Wednesday night, the BJP released names of candidates for remaining three seats including Mahendragarh.

According to the party list, it fielded Kanwar Singh Yadav from Mahendragarh.

A prominent Brahmin face of the party, Ram Bilas Sharma was also a minister in the Khattar government between 2014-2019. However, he lost the 2019 assembly polls.

Sharma was also the BJP's Haryana unit president.  -- PTI
