Maoist surrenders in Jharkhand

A Maoist belonging to the banned Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad outfit surrendered before the police in Palamu district on Tuesday. 

Anil Bhuiyan alias Prakash ji alias Jai Prakash ji alias Omprakash, a self-styled sub-zonal commander of the outfit, laid down his country-made pistol and two cartridges before superintendent of police Chandan Kumar Sinha and CRPF commandants. 

Bhuiyan, a resident of Dokra village in Chainpur area, was wanted in three criminal cases. 

He was involved in extortion, firing on a police team and torching vehicles besides possessing firearms illegal, the SP said, adding he had joined the outfit six years ago. -- PTI
