MDMK will continue to remain in the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance for the coming assembly polls "to fight the Hindutva forces", party general secretary Vaiko said in Coimbatore on Monday.
Addressing party leaders and cadres as part of a fund collection drive for the polls, he said MDMK was the only party raising money from the public, who were contributing even during the difficult Covid-19 period. Other political parties, including the Left, have adequate funds to do so, he said.
MDMK workers from Coimbatore and Tirupur districts handed over to Vaiko Rs 80 lakh they had collected from the public.
Vaiko said his party leaders and workers were not hungry for power, "even to become MLAs."
