On the fifth day of the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Indian visit, Narendra Modi has welcomed the former to the country via a tweet.

Modi wrote, ""I look forward to meeting Canadian PM Justin Trudeau tomorrow and holding talks on further strengthening India-Canada relations in all spheres. I appreciate his deep commitment to ties between our two countries."

He added, "I hope Canadian PM #JustinTrudeau and his family had a very enjoyable stay so far. I particularly look forward to meeting his children Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien."

The tweet comes after reports of Modi snubbing Trudeau and not receiving him at the airport.

However, government sources strongly rejected the speculation, insisting normal diplomatic protocol has been extended to Trudeau.

Trudeau will hold bilateral talks with Modi on Friday, a day before he wraps up his tour.
