A day after Bihar's ruling Janata Dal United put pressure on Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav to step down, the state's deputy chief minister, has finally spoken up.

Speaking to ANI, Tejashwi said, "The FIR against me is political vendetta. It's a conspiracy by Amit Shah and PM Modi.

"From day one, they have tried to break our alliance. They are bringing up cases of 2004 against me. I was 13 to 14 years old that time. How could a kid do all this?

"2004 mein to humaare mooch bhi nahi aayi thi, 13-14 saal ka baccha kaise ye sab kar sakta hai?

"The alliance is strong and will not break. The BJP will get a fitting reply."

The RJD has been adamant that Tejashwi will not resign.

The CBI registered a corruption case against Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav; former Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Managing Director P.K. Goyal; and the wife of Lalu's confidante Prem Chand Gupta, Sujata on allegations of awarding the tender for development, maintenance and operation of hotels in Ranchi and Puri in 2006

JD(U) leader Ajay Alok told ANI, "We are in a mahagathbandhan, but to maintain the coalition, the responsibility falls on everyone. Hence, he needs to come out clean on the FIR filed by the CBI. We cannot sit silently and the JDU will cannot comprise its principles. We will take our decision accordingly."
