Arun Jaitley and the art of time management

With the heavyweight portfolios of finance and defence under him Arun Jaitley has a hectic schedule in Parliament.

Two days in a week he has to answer five starred questions on finance in the Rajya Sabha and eight starred questions on defence, and does the same in the Lok Sabha as well. With officials briefing him on a daily basis, he is able to pull off what would tax most men.

Despite the pressure, Jaitley still finds time to spend in Parliament's Central Hall, where he can be invariably found from 2 to 3 pm, meeting MPs from various political parties, and interacting with media-persons.

Other Union ministers like Ravi Shankar Prasad, Dharmendra Pradhan and Ram Vilas Paswan also come to the Central Hall to interact with MPs and fellow ministers, but many prefer to stay away, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his very first Union Cabinet meeting in 2014 implored them to spend more time in Parliament library than on gossiping in Central Hall.
