President Pranab Mukherjee will observe Durga Ashtami by fasting -- he will not have lunch. Similarly Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not take even a drop of water till sunset on the days of Pradoshams.

Such VVIPS 'fasting-styles' come as a hindrance to hosting official banquets and dinners to the visiting foreign dignitaries.
