US actor draws flak for Japan tsunami tweets

US actor and stand-up comedian Gilbert Gottfried is drawing flak for comments he made about the devastating Japan earthquake and tsunami on Twitter, where he joked that Japan is so "advanced" that the "beach comes" to its people.

In the light of his jokes and comments, Gottfried has been fired by disability insurer Aflac. Japan is Aflac's most important market, with three-quarters of the insurer's business coming from the country. The tweets, some of which were sexual in nature, have since been removed from the site.
